Battle Week 2008 Tentative Calendar
The calendar for Battle Week 2008 will be finalized in June. Here is a preliminary look at the upcoming activities.
- Two-hour cruise on classic 1920s-style yacht with Barnet Schecter, author of the “The Battle for New York. $65. Classic Harbor Line, 212 627-1825
- Maryland 400 Rememberence Ceremony -- At the Old Stone House where they fought. Saturday, Aug. 16. Times to be announced.
- A ceremony for the prison ship martyrs, the largest group of casualties of the war. Sunday, Aug. 17. Times to be announced.
- Lectures At Fraunces Tavern Museum, Federal Hall and Other Locations Throughout New York City. Times and dates to be announced.
- Tours of the Important Sites of the Battle of Brooklyn, the largest conflict of the American Revolution in terms of the number of troops engaged. Times and dates to be announced.
- A re-enactment of a portion of the Battle of Brooklyn -- At Green-Wood Cemetery, 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.
- A commemoration ceremony on Battle Hill -- the highest point in Brooklyn -- 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24.
- Other events throughout the week.
